BraunWeiss is looking for an Accounting Intern to work on our financial projects. Position is in our Newton, MA office. Must be positive, enthusiastic, team player, willing to learn and excel, willing to take on new responsibility and ownership of challenging tasks. This is a client facing role, so exceptional communication and presentation skills are required.

What You Will Be Doing


  • Manage all clients assigned, communicate with clients on a timely and professional manner, answer any inquiries and escalate to the Manager if needed

  • Compile and organize data provided by clients, such as invoices, receipts, and bank statements

  • Sync linked accounts, resolve any sync issues and/or upload transactions manually as needed

  • Follow up with clients regarding any inquiries and questions

  • Save all documents in associated folders, prepare cheat sheets and documentation

  • Record (map) financial transactions and post the appropriate journal entries within accounting packages (QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero or similar)

  • Reconcile Bank, Credit Card, payroll, loan, Expensify, Bill.com etc. accounts monthly on time and recommend, and implement actions to resolve discrepancies

  • Enter Payroll, 401K, HSA and other entries as needed

  • Verify and reconcile all tax and payroll accounts quarterly or as needed

  • Prepare, review and verify quarterly and year-end client reports and submit for approval

  • Prepare and submit invoices, reconcile client payments if needed using payment portals such as Stripe, Authorize.net

  • Follow up on client invoices and payment requests

  • Manage onboarding of new clients and prepare onboarding checklists as needed

  • Input and verify tax information for individuals and businesses

  • In charge of Individual and Business Tax filing data entry and upload using ProConnect, Drake or similar

  • Upload tax documentation to tax application or corporate database

  • Verify data is correctly uploaded into tax application

  • Review and enter P&L and B/S information to tax software along with any other tax documents

  • Enter and verify ownership split and profit sharing based on the type of corporation

  • Enter personal client data into tax software (W2, 1099, Investments, Properties, Education, Dependents, Health Insurance and expenses, Household expenses etc.)

  • Verify tax information and correct errors as needed

  • Prepare Tax workflow management

What You Bring To The Team


  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, master's preferred

  • 1-3 years of experience in Accounting, Finance preferred

  • Advanced Excel skills required

  • Interest and ability in learning Tax Accounting and Tax Accounting software

  • Highly desired to have the flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, constantly changing startup environment

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Google Suite, Slack, and Asana preferred

  • Experience building reports and conducting data analysis in Excel, BI tools, and other software

  • Prior experience excelling in a fast-paced and rapidly growing organization
